Christiane BUISSET’s biography

Christiane TRESCENS was born in Paris on 26 April 1931, to a father of Spanish origin and a French mother whose surname, BUCHHOLTZ, indicates Luxembourgish roots.
While still a teenager, she crossed paths with Charles de Saint-Savin in Le Crotoy, in the Somme. Charles would become her first spiritual godfather; he was the one who guided her and taught her the first rudiments of the Higher Sciences.
Around the same time, she met Gérard BUISSET, whom she married in 1954. She lived a beautiful love story with her soul mate until the death of her “Gérard” in March 2002.
The two of them grew spiritually, hand in hand, under Charles’s guidance.
After meeting Dr Philippe ENCAUSSE (son of Papus), Christiane was set on the path of the one who was to become her Spiritual Master.
She founded “Le Cercle ÉLIPHAS LÉVI” in Paris on 1 April 1975, open to all those who wished to get to know this philosopher and explore the great esoteric questions. Within the Circle, she gave 83 lectures. She produced 82 philosophical booklets, each consisting of a summary of her lecture to which she added excerpts from the older works of ÉLIPHAS LÉVI.
In June 1991, because of Gérard’s health, she left the Paris area and settled in the Dordogne. It was then that “Le Cercle ÉLIPHAS LÉVI” changed its name and in 1992 became “Le Cercle d’Étude (or Cercle Éliphasien) du Langage Sacré”, known by its abbreviation C.L.S., which offered, up until June 2004, a monthly lecture and the publication of two small booklets per year.
Later, Christiane moved to Marmande, and the C.L.S. regained strength and vigour on 30 September 2007. It offered a lecture every two months, and Christiane also organised several workshops there on the following themes: Kabbalah, Astrology, and Tarot.
She passed away on 23 December 2012, but although she was ill, Christiane had the strength, up until the month of June, to continue her activities against all odds. Nothing could stop her, and she herself never stopped.
ÉLIPHAS LÉVI was her guiding Master, whom she loved deeply. She did everything she could to bring him out of the shadows and out of oblivion.
She trained disciples who now run this site and who continue, even today, the work she so masterfully began, to make known the poet, artist, and mage that ÉLIPHAS LÉVI was.
